The one biggest mistake you made; or two; was buying a glock. If you carry an auto; always have one you must cock the hammer. Best saftey ever made. I have owned a few bricks. But carry, saftey off, in the holster; pull; cock the hammer; fire. no brainer. When hunting how many time have you not pushed the safety. This is life and death keep it as simply as possible.

Pretty bold statement. Wanna back that up with facts?

And how is drawing, thumbing the hammer back, and squeezing the trigger more effective than drawing and then squeezing the trigger? You, yourself, just said keep it as simple as possible. :tinfoil:

If glocks were so dangerous and crappy, as we like to joke and make them out to be, they wouldn't be in use world-wide... by LEOs, military, civilian agencies, etc.

Well today I figure I just need to quit being a pppp..... umm sissy and cock the Glock and oh so carefully holster it where it has remained all day. Oddly enough I have survived so far.

My trigger disipline is pretty good and knowing that the shirt tail thing is about 80% of the possibility of a mishap. I'm ok and totally confident.

I read an article last night that in Oak Ridge 4 people some with guns held up three kids for their cell phones and change??? (That's Oak Ridge). I also remember hearing about a gang of 6 in Knoxville that holds people up (dunno if they have been caught yet. Probably not the cops only have them on 2 vidoes and a discription of the vehicle from multiple witnesses.) anyway stubbie only holds 5, then to the speed loader (which I wouldn't have named it that, need to practice when Phantom6 gets me my .38 snap caps.)

Anyway 1st day of Glock 26 locked and loaded

deaths 0

bodily injury 0

property damage 0

All in all not a bad day.

At the end of the day (make that days)...I convinced myself that I could take this gun, load it to full capacity, set it in the middle of the floor, run around in circles, jump up and down, call it names, make fun of it, talk about its mama, do a Cherokee rain dance, taunt it, sneak up on it and scream bloody murder, make it watch Days of Our Lives for 9 hours straight with my mother-in-law (enough to make me go off:D), not feed or water it, leave the room, etc...

And finally I convinced myself of the one simple truth regarding a fully charged deadly weapon...

IT WILL GO OFF, IF...AND ONLY IF, I PULL THE TRIGGER !!!

Ripping good stuff !!! :clap::clap::hat:

May I use this ?

I would NEVER carry any automatic for protection WITHOUT a round in the Chamber. If the chamber is empty, the gun might as well be in a locked case somewhere.

I was used to carrying a Taurus 85 snubbie as my primary carry gun (still do sometimes)......then switched to a Glock 27 mainly because I wanted to have more than 5 rounds available. Even though I've had Glocks for almost 20 years, I had the same concern as you about carrying one with a chambered round. I carried it without a round in the chamber for about two weeks with no accidental trigger pulls......but still felt the need for a little extra safety before I was ready to carry it with a chambered round. I bought a Saf-T-Blok for it and I LOVE it! All it takes is a quick "tap" with the fleshy part of my trigger finger to "pop" it out and it's ready to fire. You should check one out...they cost about $20 and it'll be the best $20 you've ever spent!

To each their own, regarding the Safe-T-Blok. If that works for you, awesome, keep doing it. I'm just not one to introduce something into the firing sequence, that wasn't supposed to originally be there. IMO, if they felt the need for that... Glock would sell them with their guns. I'm also not a fan of sticking something behind my trigger, and hoping that should I ever need to defend myself with the weapon, that it pops out freely... or I don't fumble with it and waste precious time. Adrenaline will be pumping and your hands most likely won't be operating quite like you would want them to.

But those are just my beliefs. Like I said, if you feel more comfortable with the Blok installed... by all means keep doing so.

Not to say that accidental discharges haven't happened by being snagged on clothing, but the large majority of glock-related discharges are due to being careless or stupid. You trained and heightened your awareness when you learned to drive a car... operating a glock is no different. You need to be familiar with the platform and understand it's workings and inherent dangers.

I am of the mindset that there should be nothing in the firing sequence (in a self defense scenario) other than drawing, aiming, and pulling the trigger. Anything else leaves too much to chance. Personally, I do not trust myself with disengaging a safety or cocking a hammer in a high stress situation. I carry the Glock's sexier cousin, the XD. I also carry a Taurus 85 in the pocket. Once you realize that the gun cannot go off if you don't pull the trigger, you'll be more comfortable with carrying it.

I know, I am loving it too!!

I have carried my G26 loaded and one in the chamber for quite a while now. I started out carrying a S&W 640 when I first started carrying and yes I was nervous at first with a loaded gun but the more I got used to it and constantly reminded myself to keep the finger off the trigger I have became ok with it all. I respect a loaded gun but I am not afraid of it, I just keep my fingers disciplined and off that trigger until I am ready to shoot it. Also keeping it in a good holster that covers the trigger and is snapped in is reassuring that a kid can't get to it while I am carrying.

It takes time but you can get there.

If your more comfortable with the snubby, thats fine... carry it. But IMHO I wouldnt carry the Glock unless its in a holster. That being said I sure wouldnt carry it without a round chambered either... might as well keep the mag and bullets in you pocket too. In a stressfull attack situation you wont have time to chamber that round.

So either train a ton with the Gloack and invest in a good holster.... or just carry the snubbie!
