How does membership status change?

I asked this once before, but too many comedians and my thread got hijacked with no answer, so I'll try again. What determines membership status to change from newcomer to member? I've got over 100 posts and a member since 2011. I see newer members with less posts and less time, that have the update. I am a benefactor, but don't know if that changes anything.

Well, not really. It says 250 posts ... I still see a lot of members with less than that to show member, not newcomer.

Are they benefactors? I think that comes with buying a membership.

Can't answer the question, unless the previous forum software allowed a lower post count to switch over, and they just carried over when the switch was made to IP Board.

 

However, now that you are a Benefactor, can't you just change it to whatever you like under the Member Title field?

Even as a benefactor, you still need 250 posts to be able to change the Member title.

Not in mine, OS. Under my settings, I have the following options only, which I've been through again and again, no member stat change there. Under settings: General Account Settings, Email & Password,  Display Name, Signature, Ignore Preference, Manage Attachments, Notification Options, and My Notifications.

 

And again, several say 250 posts required, that doesn't explain why some members you can easily find among the site, joined within the last year and can make changes with as little as 75-80 posts.

 

Two years later, I'm still a newcomer ... and its still clear as mud ... oh well :surrender:       :rofl:
