We have a winner! Just because we dislike something someone wears, listens to, thinks, etc., as long as they are not harming someone else, gives us absolutely no right to legislate against it!

It's easy to stop. Just have us old men start wearing our pants like that, it suddenly isn't cool and they will pull them up faster then you can imagine.

Hardly true. I have met several people wo dress like that who have HCP's and are gun owners.

 

I say let them be. After all they are pretty easy to catch if they do decide to run from LE.

I could see a ban on sagging (i.e. we can see your underwear). To me that's public indecency. But baggy? Define baggy. I wear relaxed fit jeans. My 60 year old mother would define them as baggy because they aren't fitted.

 

Might as well go ahead and ban popped collars while they're at it. It's a sign of frat boy brewfests and womanizing.

Dress codes are a terrible waste of time and only useful in a few situations (such as school, where disruptive clothing should not be allowed) or mental institutions (some disturbed folks can get upset at some things) or prisons (no freedom of any kind should be allowed).  

 

Out in the world, clothing should not be regulated beyond passing whatever nudity laws are in place (which is another issue entirely)

Random and scary because of you posting this. I had a nightmare last night that I was in a store trying to find pants and all of them were low slung in the back, you couldn't wear them with out sagging. I had a panicked feeling going to every display. I woke up at 4am because of it.

I have had zombie dreams that I thought were awesome and none of them woke me up from a dead sleep. But for some reason not being able to buy normal pants panicked me...

When I taught HS, the security officers loved the baggy pants, it made it really easy for an older gentleman to catch a young healthy male student... :2cents:

 

If you want to dress like a fool, expect to be treated like one... my son bought a pair and his dad grabbed the back and pulled them up around his ears, HS football linebacker crying in the driveway... Son got rid of the pants.  (The younger ones knew better after witnessing the older brother)  I still snicker when I think about it...

My girlfriend lives in a not so great neighborhood. Actually compared to others in Memphis its quite nice but when the poolside furniture gets stolen in a gated community that should say something. The other day I was walking her dog and ran in to a baggy pants type character. No belt, one hand down his pants holding them up but they were still hanging pretty low with boxers on full display. He started talking to me and was nice but I could barley understand a thing he said. His number one question to me was if I was having trouble seeking employment also. Considering I dont look like a pervert and speak clearly, no I dont have trouble getting a job. Of course, I didnt say it like that.

I don't like this kinda crap talk at all. Banning a certain type of clothing? Sure, and after at they'll ban all jewelry bearing the Star of David followed closely by all crosses depicting Christ.

It's a balance. It MUST be maintained. I despise baggy pants but who am I to say one cannot wear them. I hate porn too but the law that protects one mans right to watch it also protects the next guys right to enjoy the words of the Torah or the King James Bible.


These kind of laws are "toe in" laws. It's just a way to get a toe in the door, before long it's a foothold, then they rip the door off the hinges.
