Scope for a Stag Arms AR15

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a cope for my AR. Should I go with a Red Dot or an actual scope.  It will not be used for hunting unless the SHTF.  I don't want to put a $1200 scope on a $1200 rifle.  Any suggestions welcome.

I say if you are $1200 in on the rifle, you could get away with a $1200 scope. On my stag 15, I only have a troy rear back-up sight for now.

My general rules of thumb for rifles and sight-systems is as follows (and all are personal preferences and opinions):

1. Don't put anything on an American-made gun that isn't also made in America unless such a product is not available in the market.

2. Get a sight system that is right for the applications the weapon will be used for (including range and required durability).

3. Alway have a backup iron sights in case your scope, holographic, or red dot fails.

Just my opinions of course. For my stag, if this lower group buy becomes a reality, I will be looking at an eotech, like this: http://www.eotech-inc.com/products/sights/xps2Zombie
