In TN., do we have gun registration?

ATF has been caught breaking this law repeatedly as well.

 

I thought it was illegal for the 4473's to be copied or removed from the premise, including by government agency.  I forgot the store had to keep them

And you trust this government to destroy the records? Their track record on following the law isn't impressive.

If I remember correctly, about 35 years ago, ALL handgun sales had to go thru the sheriff (but this wasn't enforced. I have a book from the '30s that says handgun sales in TN at that time were illegal all together). The sheriff had 14 days to approve or disapprove (only with cause). Some would sign it right away. Some, like Sheriff Mike Kirk in Franklin County, would make you wait almost the full time (been there). If it wasn't disapproved in that time it was automatically approved after the 14 days. The sheriff could, and sometimes did, keep a record of the sale with the serial number of the gun. Thankfully those days are gone.
