CCRKBA endorsement of Manchin-Toomey?

I like how they justify it by mentioning a couple of "ok" issues thinkingbthey outweigh the huge blow they are throwing at people who are NOT doing anything wrong. Meanwhile criminals are not worried about any legislation since they obey nothing! Edited by rugerla1

Exactly!  Never heard of them, who are they?  Are they stupid or what?

From what I saw on the website (no mention of this endorsement) I wonder if the rank and file members know anything about this.  I expect when they do they will lose members fast...

CCRKBA is tied in with The Second Amendment Foundation, the main people that fought for us in both the Heller and McDonald cases in front of the Supreme Court.

CCRKBA CALLS FOR UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

BELLEVUE, WA – “If politicians want universal background checks, we should start with them,” said Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

He pointed to recent political scandals in the New York Legislature, which just passed a new restrictive gun control law, where a state senator and state assemblyman were arrested last week, as “one small example.”

Exactly! Who are these politicians anyway.

Remember the house banking scandal? We would be in jail.

Remember the house inside trader scandal? It's funny how most politicians aren't millionaires when they

go to Washington but they are when they leave.

What a bunch of crooks.

It must be nice to enact laws that apply to all Americans but exempt yourself.

Could be the same kind of endorsement that the NSSF gave for "Universal Background Checks", it never happened but the press made it up.  Seems to be a lot of that going around.

Well, I am wrong.  CCRKBA has jumped into bed with the side that wants universal background checks.

The Citizens Committee is supporting the Manchin-Toomey substitute bill to knock out the very bad draconian Schumer Background Check bill. The Citizens Committee and our attorney lobbyist had a hand in influencing and drafting parts of this substitute amendment.

I let them know to remove me from their roles, and to not ever ask me for money again.

Now, c'mon, let's be a bit more accurate.

Manchin-Toomey doesn't call for anywhere near universal background checks. Private sales are still allowed.

Hell, you can still do it at a gunshow without check if you merely go off property, and no limitations on normal private sales we do now without a check.

The only truly nasty problematic part is the "pursuant to an online ad" thing, which is nasty indeed, I admit.

But it's far far from being "universal background check".

Did not say this particular piece of clap trap in the form published provided universal background checks, said that is what they are espousing, and I think that is an accurate statement.

Just thinking that some of this talk by certain groups like ccrkba about which bill is worse reminds me of another discussion. Between Attlia the Hun, Adolph Hitler, Ivan the Terrible and Vlad the Impaler, which one should we support? Let's get behind the one that's not quite as bad as the others.

Absolutely ridiculous. 'Because worse is worse it doesn't mean bad isn't bad.

at a guess 3/10 or more of gun "owners" would betray us in this manner, so its no surprise.

You know the ones.   See em on tv now and then  "its ok to have a hunting rifle and this law won't effect that".

Well, they statement says they only support the Manchin-Toomey bill because it negate Schumer's much more strict. They also mention the parts that if changed will make them withdraw support.

Don't get me wrong, for any "gun rights" org to support this bill pretty much sucks, but in no way do I think it's accurate to claim they are espousing universal checks.

Incidentally, they have the same glaring error I've seen stated here, that transfers between "friends" is allowed in the bill, which is simply wrong -- indeed the word itself is nowhere in it.

They have now pulled their support of this bill because some key provisions have been removed Gottleib is rapidly losing credibility.

fyp

CCRKBA is the lobbying arm of Gottleib's Second Amendment Foundation. SAF is soon to lose another member because of his antics.

Well, I hope Gottleib learned a lesson.  I watched the video where he was gloating how they "snookered" the other side by transforming the bill into a pro-gun bill, and now it seems the only one snookered was him.

Assault weapons ban and background checks voted down in Senate......a vote for the 2nd Ammendment! Both Porker and Alexander voted against the AW ban. Maybe they actually listened to all of our calls and emails. Edited by CJDore
