If you want to save on shipping at Cabelas join their club and get one of their credit cards. I ordered 100 rds of .223 and 100 rds 7.62x39 today and shipping was $5.00 for the 200 rounds.

I miss the days when I saw a 20 round box at Walmart for $6-7, but considering the circumstances I can live with $8.80. I can't live with $13-18 boxes at the gun shops.

Much like CheaperThanDirt, it'll be a cold day in Hell before any of them get a penny of my money again. Ammo may be scarce at Walmart, Academy, and Outpost Armory, but at least they aren't raping us with mark-ups. So, they get all my business henceforth.

Ditto.

I'll be damned if I'll pay $.50 per round for 22LR, $1 per for 223, or almost $1 per for 9mm.

If I can't randomly find it at normal retail, I'll just wait.

Price gouging and the whole re-seller crap gets on my last nerve.

What's next, ya'll going to be turnin' tricks at the local truck stop for 100 rounds of .223 or a box of 9mm,LOL.
Ok, just yanking your chain a bit but on a serious note, why not simply learn how to reload your own and stop being a slave to the ammo manufactures? Even with primer and powder prices going up I can still load up a 50 round box of handgun ammo(9x18mm Mak is my "flavor of the month",LOL) for $14.25 with a premium Hornady XTP hollow points, even less if I cast my own bullets.
Break the chains and learn how to roll your own. Edited by TN.Frank

They have several shelves of this at their retail location in Louisville. I stocked up today.

~$.37 a round said and done.

The only caliber they didn't have in stock was .22LR. If you felt like paying $1.50 a round, they had 9mm in 124gr Winchester SXT. But it was the only 9mm they had in stock.

Plenty of .223 and x39mm. All steel case. LOTS of .308.

I've been doing a lot of research and reading about this subject and there's actually plenty of ammo being turned out by the manufactures. It's all the panic buying and hording along with a lot of folks buying to sell at inflated prices that's keeping the store shelves empty.
If people would just take a chill pill for a couple months and let the supply build back up then prices would come back down and you'd actually be able to find a couple boxes of ammo at the local Wally World or Gun Store when you wanted it to go plinking.
Instead folks keep buying up everything they can find like it's going out of style and keeping the shelves bare which allows the profiteers to buy and jack up the price.
