Via Fox17 This is right by my house. I went outside when I heard a ton of sirens going off. Not sure of all the details, but they have shut power off on the street and have S.W.A.T. on the scene as we speak.

A few months ago, we had a SWAT situation across the street from our house.  The local police served a warrant and the guy ran out the back door and hid under the house.  SWAT smoked him out after about an hour.

terrible thing.

On a side note, in a situation like that what if police ask you to leave your house but you are more comfortable there for your own reasons or  perhaps medical reasons or something.  Can they force you to leave?

I am sure they can, but what law are they using ?

Just thinking there is a fine line there.

I'm sure if they(police) ask you to leave it is for your own safety.  But they can only remove you if your life is in immediate danger. (I'm not sure, as I'm not in Law enforcement). But "asking" usually results in the police getting you to comply. At least the people who don't know their rights.

Before these past few murders here on the state line (south of Fayetteville), Thought the country was relatively safe. Beginning to think my home in Tullahoma is a lot safer.

Not sure if its gun fire or tear gas, both kinds have happened up to this point according to neighbors giving the play by play

I heard a sound like a .22 one night. My friend and I looked at each other and heard a second shot. We thought nothing of it until the next day. My wife asked if we had seen the cops or heard anything suspicious. When I told her about the gun shots, her jaw dropped. Some young guy that lived behind us committed suicide. It was over some girl. Women....

The weird thing was I seen them the night they broke up. She was walking in front of my house when the dude drove by and swerved into her. If she hadn't hit the ditch it might have been the end of her. Like an idiot I was walking over to protect the chick and the guy took off and no one had even knew I was there......

I couldn't figure out what the second shot was? I heard sometimes people's hand tighten up, or maybe his finger was on the trigger when he dropped... I don't know....

Anyway, I hope your story has a happier ending.... GL

SWAT for suicides? That's good!

Suicidal ideation is ( and should be) viewed as a symptom of a mental disorder. If something happened to me that caused a mental or psychological breakdown I would want people to intervene to protect me.

Well, get out the SWAT teams and patrol everywhere. That'll solve everything.

if someone wants to off themselves who am I to say they can't

Absolutely! Thank you!

I hate it when I see someone who wants to move on, strapped into a padded room for their own good. Rubbish! If a person wants to skip to the next scene of the play, it's their business. I will say, it's tragic when a young person takes this path, often they don't realize how paltry their problems are. But an adult? Go for it. Thats one less person drawing resources and one less walker to worry about during the zombie apocalypse.

Wow.....

As I have said in other threads I am a therapist in a mental health clinic. I have seen people making over $100,000 a year coming in due to suicidal ideation. They did not deserve to have thier life cut short due to a rough time period. This doesn't only affect the poor, but every class. 99% of the people who attempt suicide and then get treatment - IMPROVE!

99% of people who ATTEMPT suicide don't really want to die. They either want attention or they want help and don't know how to ask for it.
It's always been my contention that anyone who genuinely wants to die doesn't ATTEMPT anything. It's not that difficult to do.

Suicide is Illegal, But death by cop Isn't. If someone is suicidal and religous, then that DBC( death by cop) saves them from burning in hell( if you believe it) and they don't have to pull the trigger.

Not trying to be cold, but that is some way people think.  I had a friend commit suicide a time back and yes it was over a girl. But he got drunk and trashed his house ( all the while living next door to his parents) they never heard a thing till the next morning, they found him with one .22 bullet wound to his head.

Here in my town I would "read into" that headline that the sheriff and his deputies were about to murder someone else that they were tired of.

I think if anyone really wants to commit suicide, they'll do it. I know a guy that took a bunch of pain pills to end it all. Then he called a bunch of people and told them. Of course within so many minutes the cops were there and he lives.

Mostly attention....

I did see on Yahoo news two Belgian brothers that did the hospital assisted suicide bit. They were ill with something and were told they were going blind and wouldn't be able to see each other ever again. They called the family into the room, said goodbye, held hands, then drifted off into eternal slumber....

There are different reasons for each case. My friend is the 99% and the brothers are the 1%
