Porter's Battery and other parcipatating reenactors would like to invite you to Arrington, Tennessee on April 27th and 28th 2013 for a living history and battle reenactment. If you would like, come to the Confederate camps, look for "Porter's Battery" and ask for Dave, and I'll give you the "grand tour" of the guns! Hope to see you there!

Saturday is baseball. We may try to get down there on Sunday. We've never been to a re enactment, and always wanted to see one. We did attend the 150th anniversary of the battle of Stones River, and really enjoyed that. Thanks for letting us know about this!

We were there today, and fount it interesting. I expect the weather put a damper on the turnout. Sorry I was unable to locate you, Dave. My wife was afraid it would be muddy there.

Alot of the reenactors left Saturday due to weather. We held the battle on Sunday as scheduled and due to the mud and ground conditions, we had to use a JD tractor to place the guns in. All in all it was fun. I will post some pictures tomorrow un "Show and Tell". Thanks for attending! By the way, "mud" was not the word for it!

I have a few pics, but it wasn't easy to get good ones with the way the area was laid out.

The first picture you posted is a 12lb mountain howitzer. That gun can be broke down and carried by two horses. That was a union group that was there.

The second picture we were just lolly gag'n around so the federal troops could catch us by suprise. If you look at the limber, there is a guy standing with his arm in the air. I'm standing behind his arm with the red kepi on. As you looked up the hill at the confederate guns, I was on the gun on the left and was worming the tube and loading the rounds I was the only one on that peice with a red kepi. When the battle was over, we let people come up to the guns, and even let a few fire them. I'm glad you came down, wish we could have met.
