Sex Trafficking Facts

It's a worldwide problem and while awareness has increased, especially domestically, so has the industry's grasp expanded as well. In these economically unstable times more people are becoming involved in trafficking both as victims & victimizers. As well as a growing number of accomplices looking for easy money. Trafficking occurs every day across this state in Memphis, Clarksville, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville & even in the smaller towns surrounding. Whether it's street pimps just keeping them high or the gangs/cartels trucking them on the interstates along with the guns & drugs. We are a hub of the southeast. Please take a few minutes and read about some of the facts & figures involved. Your knowledge could help save someone from this abuse. If you feel compelled to act you can contact SharedHope, Love146, Children of the Night, SCTNow or Any of these organizations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_organizations_opposing_human_trafficking
As always before donating to any charity please take time to research and review their policies and structure to ensure your donation is making the most valuable impact it possibly can.

Sevier Heights Baptist Church is doing a seminar on human trafficking soon. I will see if I can find the day and time and post it for all the Knoxville members that would like to attend.

Hard to believe its going on right here in the sates. Sex slaves are things you think of in craphole inbred countries like the sandbox or Africa.
I know saying things on the Internet ain't a good idea, but I could kill a man who exploits some little 14 year old girl for sex and not only would I NOT lose any sleep, I'd probably sleep better for it. Everyone involved should die. If I could do it, I would......with a clear conscience. Edited by Caster

Thanks,

I think it's important for gun owners to have a heightened awareness because trafficking is directly responsible for the proliferation of drugs and illegal guns in our communities.

In some cases boys & girls as young as 4 or 5 are being used and they will work them for years. It also affects many women in their late teens even until their mid twenties.

Years ago these people would have to travel to southeast asia or parts of africa for this depravity but it has spread to the states, yes. Even to Tennessee.

This is the TBI report on it: http://www.tbi.state.tn.us/documents/finaltnhumansextraffickingstudycolorrev2.pdf

"They were arrested for trafficking girls as young as twelve across the U.S., including Tennessee (Martinez, 2010). In July 2010, a man in East Tennessee was arrested for having trafficked over four hundred women (Stambaugh, 2010)."

"Seventy-eight counties representing 85% of the total counties in the state reported at least one case of human sex trafficking in the last 24 months"

"Minors: The following four counties reported more than 100 cases a) Shelby, b-) Davidson, c) Coffee, and d) Knox."

"Adults: The following eight counties reported more than 100 cases a) Shelby, b-) Madison, c) Lawrence, d) Davidson, e) Coffee, f) Franklin, g) Hamilton, and h) Knox. "

How does one even go about finding a gateway to buying into this? ( that's a rhetorical question!)

Looks to me like some good ole boys would pool up some cash to get through the door, then lay waste to the bastards. I know several cops and I betcha none of them would look very hard for the culprits.
Sucks, we only get mass shootings that involves INNOCENT people dying. When are we gonna get a news report "Dozens of kiddie porn and sex slave runners slaughtered in shooting"
I wanna see those headlines.

If sex trafficking is an issue, why don't they just create more legislation to regulate it?  That seems to be the argument with guns.

If regulating doesn't work, we could always wage war against it. How long has "the war on poverty" been going on? We should just make poverty illegal. Kind of a circle we go around, huh?

Some East TN/Knoxville resources via Christi Wigle of Knoxville's Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking -  http://www.ccaht.org/CCAHTvid.html

I can tell you that resources are thin, woefully under-funded and under-staffed. Trafficking is a huge problem in this area.
