"Ninety-two percent of the American people want universal background checks."

What a HUGE lie. But then, I don't expect any politician who likes to trample on the American people's constitutional rights to have integrity.

It wouldn't matter if 92% of the American people wanted to discard the 2nd Amendment all together, the Rights enumerated within the Constitution are not subject to sways in popular opinion.

They are "inalienable" & he would have known that had he bothered to have ever read the @#$% document, which he @#$% swore to uphold & protect when he took his @#$%'ing oath of office.

Like daddyo, I really have to wonder...just where are the 72 to now 92 percent of the American people who want universal background checks? And why does the figure change each time the line is quoted?

I don't doubt that in a heavily weighted poll, in the right geographical area, with the hand picked persons taking said poll...that a number like that can't be obtained. But across the board statements like that, I find really suspect.

Not that I believe for one instant that a poll might be fabricated to ge a specific awnser. Not at all.

Marketers call them "push polls" where you ask a question so you get the answer you want.  If you wanted guns in every home you would ask:

"Do you think a black person should be able to have a gun to defend himself from a KKK riot?"

Then, you get the answer you are searching for.

Or..."Do you think felons should have to go through a background check before purchasing a firearm?".

I can't get on a plane as the governor of the state of Connecticut without somebody running a background check on me.  Why should you be able to buy a gun? Or buy armor-piercing ammunition?

Evidently he thinks the no fly list is a criminal background check.

Even armor-piercing logic couldn't get through this idiots cranium.

Some of these politicians prove the need for a new law against criminal stupidity.

One slight area of disagreement...  Rights come from our humanity, and endowed by our creator, they predate the Constitution and both the federal and state governments.  Nobody can revoke these inalienable rights, they can only violate those rights.

Our rights aren't granted to us by a document, or by other men, they are ours from the second we're born until the second we die, and any infringement of those rights is tyranny whether by passing a "law" or "interpreting" what the constitution says.

I know it's splitting hairs, but it's a critical difference.

I saw the distinguished governor on the tube when up there a couple of times over the winter. He's the clown. I read recently that the school system in Newtown had hired armed guards for their schools. Nuff said IMO.
