Scope mounting issue.

My friend just purchased a savage model 11. I went to mount a rail on it and found that one of the holes had a burr in it and the screw wants to cross thread. I have been trying to find a smith in or around chatt that has a tap for it but all are booked up. We were wanting to sight it in at tomorrows shoot.

Does anyone in or around chattanooga have a fine thread tap or can bring one for tomorrows shoot?

One person suggested to just try and thread it the rest of the way and it may straighten up. Not really wanting to try that.

Word to the wise I knocked a good bit of shavings out of each hole you may want to check this on a new savage purchase.
