Guest Verbal Kint

I must admit, though, in all the avenues I've traveled in life, I have found few people as strong in their opinions as firearm people; and few people that are equally as anal about the veracity of their opinion alone.

I agree.

And they're usually a very close knit group, considering other members (some whom they've never even met) very close friends or "family". That combo alone makes issues like that much more heated, as people feel that they have to side with one party or the other out of loyalty. Then the bitching and anti- comments ensue and we end up... well... here.

Hey thar YANKEE2500, look what you started !!

You should have known better than ask for opinions on a FIREARM of all things here, eh?

;);)

ps: I shot an acquaintance's 340 outdoors, cylinder full of some kind of 357 and cylinder full of some kind of .38 (+p I guess). The .38 was all I wanted in MY hand.

Love the size/weight for concealed carry, but that plutonium alloy doesn't absorb much. By comparison, in my Ruger SP101, .357's feel about same if not LIGHTER than the .38 +p in that Smith.

BTW, the Ruger is less than an inch longer than the Smith, but of course weighs 25 oz empty.

Oh, pps: I don't know which model 340 it was.

Magnum cartridges in a snubby are punishing, even in a steel version... I'm not sure I'd really care though, at the time I really had to use it. The 340 I've fired really wasn't uncontrollable for reasonably accurate, repeated shots. In an adrenalin-enhanced death-grip, I wouldn't expect it to be any less accurate than .38s... those with weak hands need not apply, however, of course.

Guys thanks for the useful (and not so useful) reply posts to my question. Sorry to stir up a hornets nest. In the future I will limit my questions to weather and types of flowers.lol Thanks John

I still enjoy the site.

Ignore the noise in the thread. Your questions were legitimate and others sought to spoil the thread by using it to make a statement. This soon will pass and we'll all be able to get back to just enjoying talking about guns without any of the schoolyard politics.
