UN Arms Treaty Passed

Recommended Posts

Why do we continue to let a body that we(the US) support; composed of third world wannabes influence our nation. And tell our citizens how to act, what they can own, and try to shut down personal freedoms. Yes I know the last was a "worst case scenerio" according to the politicos, and wont ever happen.

Anything is possible in this country after witnessing continued stupidity from our politicians and voters the last four and half years.

I would be shocked if the Senate can get 66 votes to ratify it.  I don't think it is going anywhere at this time.

53 senators signed what was essentially a powerless yet public statement against it a month or so ago - almost no chance they can pull 66 senators together to ratify.

Senate doesn't have to vote on it for it to go into effect.  I believe that as long as they haven't voted yes or no and the president hasn't rejected it the treaty is in effect.

Why do we fear soldiers who wear white helmets and blue arm bands and can't load their guns in the land of the rifleman?

Well, most of the Democrat party would be fine disbanding the US, and all other nations, and joining a single world governing body.  The President would certainly agree to that.

Remember, to him and those like him, The United States is the 1%.  Only way to be fair is to blend with with the 99% that is the rest of the world.

I believe you are right. In several cases, UN Delegates from the minor, have nots, third world, have openly avowed that the wealth of the US and its people should be divided "equitably" with the rest of the world.

Socialism or Communism. Choose your poison. If we cowtow to the UN, we are well and truly finished as a world power. And we are teetering  on the edge of a fall right now.

Senate doesn't have to vote on it, but if they don't, it doesn't go into effect:

U.S. Constitution - Article 2 Section 2
"He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur"

Presidents have bunches of treaties that have never been ratified, and never will. The UN has no power over a

sovereign country until that country totally accepts the treaty, regardless of what our Herr Leader does. The

only thing that treaty can hurt us with is the provisions that other countries have already accepted, not us.

It is part of what Obama has been planning to do, all along. His Executive Orders aren't over, either. Once he

gets enough of his puppets in states to pass some new stuff, he will introduce us to his next round of EO's.

It ain't gonna stop.

That's what I expect.

The treaty will not pass the Senate, at least not yet.  I imagine the Democrats are going to just hold onto it until the day they have enough votes in the Senate to pass it.

My hope is that this all out assault by the Democrats on the Second Amendment will result in them losing the Senate in 2014.  Then we can stop them dead in their tracks.  If Obama's policies have not totally destroyed our economy by 2016, then we can hopefully get the White House and many of the the currently liberal state governments back too (Colorado comes to mind).  Then we can start reversing every liberal gun control law that has been passed in the past 8+ years.

Yeah yeah, I know.  2016 is a long way off........but I have a dream.  I want the liberals to be so defeated that even their self esteem is crushed to the core.

The GOP would have to take over 6 seats to have a 51 majority, although there are 2 independent Senators, King in Maine and Sanders in Vermont, so maybe just four seats would do it for most purposes, dunno. 4 Dems are retiring, but their districts are very blue, so probably no turnovers there.

Assuming the GOP loses no seats too, of course, but I haven't seen any press about any of those being in real jeopardy, while there does seem to be 3-6 Dem seats that are iffy, depending on who you believe at this point.
