Picked up some 12 gauge

Recommended Posts

Walmart at East Towne Mall in Knoxville got some in this morning. I picked up 800 rounds but left at least 4K sitting on the shelves. They only have shotgun shells right now. They have 20 and 12 gauge.

If anyone is needing 12 gauge they routinely have it.

Going to be bringing some to the shoot this weekend.

Is 12ga that hard to find? I understand 9mm, .380, .223 etc. but where I work we have more shotgun ammo than we know what to do with. I had a customer tell me he watched some people at Walmart wait 3 hours bc the truck was late to buy some 12ga field loads and he couldn't understand why since we have an abundance of it. I guess I'm confused.

12ga is easy as anything to find for me, and cheap too. I have turkey load, 00 buck, slugs and my favorite Rio Royal #4 00 buck (21 pellets).

You can get 12 gauge in Middle TN pretty easily.  I bought a couple hundred rounds each of field loads in 20 and 12 at the Walmart in Franklin a couple of weeks ago.  Academy in Franklin has a large selection of 12's as well.

I just picked up a 100 round value pack at wally world the other day... they had quite a few... federal and winchester value packs,  thought about making wax slugs if worst came to worst...

I prefer Federal over Winchester for a few reasons. First if you plan on removing the shot and loading it with an actual slug the Winchester needs a new cup while the Federal doesn't. The Federal tends to be more reliable with semi autos. I have both but will only use the Winchester in pumps or single shots from now on.

I need to make some wax slugs for this weekend. I need to make some regular slug loads too. Not sure if I can because I have a lot of other stuff to load first.

Because I often end up heading to various destinations when I go out for groceries, to restaurants and etc. I have a 'circuit' of a few, different Walmart locations that I hit, generally getting to all of them at least once a month.  That circuit includes the stores at Lenoir City, Madisonville, Athens, and Rockwood.  I also sometimes get to the one in Maryville, the one in Clinton and the one in Halls.  In the last, few months the shelves where the bulk packs of 12 gauge field loads belong have been empty nearly every time I have visited one or the other of those locations.  I have also noticed that they usually don't seem to have much in the way of 12 gauge buckshot or slugs.  Some of the more expensive field or 'target' loads are generally available (although not always) and they usually have some turkey loads but that is about it.  Even the 20 gauge stuff has been hit or miss, at times.
