Is reality becoming more like video games or vice versa?   The disconnect with the trigger would certainly be quite odd at first.  However, I can see the video output being very useful.

There definitely needs to be a backup system. A spare traditional scope and the ability to go manual on the trigger would be necessary out in the field. This would be a great sniper system for the military if it was rugged enough.

When I was running around with the Army I had GPS but always had a paper map and compass for backup 'cause Murphy likes electronic gadgets:-) Edited April 2, 2013 by Romad7

No they had a write up on this system in a mag a couple weeks ago. Itd be a nice setup for just getting hits on a stationary target, but can't replace the stalking skis of a true sniper

Nope, not April fools.  And the article is pretty clear that the system isn't remotely rugged enough for battlefield use.  It's bulky, heavy, and complicated, but you've got to start somewhere.  Why not start selling to a few well heeled bench rest guys and generate some capital for continuing the development?

Yep, these kinds of thing usually start this way with a fragile, bulky system. Before you know it this will be a helmet mounted reticle that guys can use from cover.

One day we'll be seeing threads about, should I buy the variable power scope or the computer controlled targeting scope for a few hundred more.

Wireless system controlling the servo actuated, roof mounted weapon while the solider sits in the bunker looking at a screen.  Just like a video game.  Or even mounted on something like a Remotec Andros.  The platform is proven.
