Ruger 1911?

I saw someone posted that someone had bought or was gonna buy one of these. How are they? I've got a couple of Rugers :0) and might be interested in one. What's the scoop?

Ive never owned a bad Ruger. That being said they are hard to get parts for but other than that it cant be a bad investment

I agree josh....I've got 3, and love em all. I wish they made a compact 45 on the 1911 design though.

What parts are you referring to? The 1911 has more  parts available than any other handgun

They also make it in a commander model if that helps.

I've got a 5" model. It's pretty good for bang for your buck. My biggest complaint is the MIM parts. You can see if you look closely where they broke them from the mold. I rarely shoot it so I'm not in a huge rush, but one day I'm going to swap them out.

Blue Line gun store in Gallatin has a stainless steel Ruger 1911 for sale or at least they did as of Saturday when I was there. You may want to give them a call.

I have both Ruger 1911s feel a function like a true 1911 , also have 4 other Ruger models love them all.

Mahoneys in Johnson City have the commander and the govt both for 699. I have the govt model and it's a fine gun.

From all accounts, the Ruger 1911 is a good pistol.

 

If you wish to replace the MIM parts, go to Ed Brown's web site and buy replacements.  No MIM there.

After searching for several months, I found a Ruger commander a few weeks ago in Memphis at Guns and Ammo.  After the first few hundred rounds of factory and reload ammunition, it seems to be a nice pistol.

To flat answer your question the gun is as good as any Colt I own. I have thrown over 1 k rounds of all types of ammo without a single FTF.

The gun is solid as with all Rugers, built well and it shows at the range. I have shot at least 50 rounds with the factory mags and thy worked fine; no FTF.The majority of my shooting of this gun was with Wilson Combat legendary mags.


You won't be dissapointed.

I have the govt model and absolutely love it. 70 series slide is a must for me. I had a nice colt 1976 commander and I like this ruger sr1911 at least as much if not better. If I ever have problems with the 6 or 7 mim parts I will upgrade but mine so far is fine and I haven't heard of function problems due to that.
I will not consider selling or trading this one...like I did the colt. Check out the details that are standard on it... ruger even did a semi melt job on it, no sharp edges like most others ( even colts ).
IMHO it is a best buy in a very competitive 1911 market.
