Update/FYI: Barrel sold last night, over on M4C.

Going to change-up and sell a few more parts, then start replacing them with SPR parts. :)

SBR tax stamp (money) will most likely be going towards a can. Gotta have at least one NFA item, right?

Awesome!

I think I'm going SBR on my next build.

What are you going w/ barrel wise?

18" Noveske or 18" SPR-M barrel from GTS/Denny's in IonBond (like the SBR barrel I just sold). Haven't decided which of the two yet, as both are amazing barrels.

Cool, I've been looking seriously at the Noveske's myself.

I've also been considering White Oak Armament (in order to save a little cash), as they seem to have a pretty good rep as well.

Yeah, that's my only beef with Noveske... their claim to fame is the polygonal barrels... and, IMO, they're overpriced. The GTS/Denny's barrels have rave reviews with the guys over on M4C, so much so that they put them up against Noveske. And they're $100+ cheaper usually.

GTS uses Douglas blanks in their barrels, and has Compass Lake Engineering machine them to his specs. As I've said, I've never seen a negative review on them and a lot of people swear by them over there. The SPR barrel that I'm leaning towards is this one.

The guy that purchased my GTS 10.5" barrel is actually a moderator over on the M4C forums. Listed it for sale and he jumped on it a cpl hours later. From speaking with him, he already has a 16" middy Operator barrel of his (GTS) and a MK12 upper on the way. My 10.5" filled the gap he had in his rifle collection.

Sorry if I missed it,but what is an SPR?

Just more acronyms for you to remember. :hijack:

SPR = Special Purpose Rifle (LINK)

DMR = Designated Marksman Rifle (LINK)

S-DMR = Squad Designated Marksman Rifle (LINK)

Kewl! So what I'm getting from that is its just an uber precision type rifle?

What all are you going to be swapping out in her?

Yep, you're correct... precision build. Figured I already had the VLTOR MUR upper receiver, and had let the SBR project sit stagnant enough that I finally lost interest in the SBR process (even though I was at the very end of it and just needed to mail the check :hijack:), so I might as well build a SPR out of it.

Just swapping smaller parts around. Picking up a Magpul UBR in FDE, so I'll sell the CTR stock, milspec extension tube, etc. Most likely sell the CQD rear sling mount / end plate and the CQD sling. Everything else was already overkill for an SBR, so it allows me to keep them and use them in the precision build.

Optics will of course be re-thought, but that was always just in the "planning stage" anyway and would be the last thing to be purchased.

Sounds pretty awesome, I'm in a toss up over the PRS and the UBR, but I was leaning more towards the UBR for this build.

Yep, was having the same dilemma. Was trying to decide between the Gen II PRS and the UBR. You can find the PRS way more easily right now, but I'm already on the waiting list for an FDE UBR. Rifle won't be complete by the time my UBR shipped, so it's not an issue to me. :hijack:

:D ....Whats a UBR?

:hijack:

Rifle stock. More specifically Magpul's UBR (Utility Battle Rifle) stock.

Link Here

Basically it's a collapsible stock, with the rigidity of a fixed stock, for larger bore rifles and precision builds. ;)

You've got me looking at these GTS barrels pretty seriously now... I really like that Ionbond finish on the stainless... me makes rifle more blacker and eviler:tough:

SPR = Special Purpose Rifle

And here I thought it meant Short Pimped Rifle.
