They are supposed to be coming out with this soon and at $0.12 per round for the ammo it looks like a fun prospect. However I have heard that Oly Arms uppers are junk....what are your alls thought?

My only "concern" would be magazines. Has there been any problems with 5.45x39 out of GI mags? It is just like the 6.8spc issue. I would like to get one but I don't want to buy $30 mags again.

Other than that, go for it while the surplus supply is still good. And Wolf 5.45 prices are good now too.

Oly makes good stuff. I have a .45 upper and it's been no trouble.

Just getting into the AR scene, I don't claim to be very knowledgable on the quality of each brand. What I can tell you is, nearly everyone I have talked to about AR's has made it a point to tell me what garbage Olympic Arms rifles are.

Again, I have no personal expreiences with them, but I have yet to hear anyone talking good about them.

Between the 5.45 and 9mm, I would go with the 9mm. I think the 5.45 is going to go up either due to AWB or future availability. I could be wrong though.

I'm thinking the same thing. Midway shows the Oly upper being available on the 24th.

I've looked and looked for an AK-pattern in 5.45x39, but they're all crazily over-priced or they look like junk. I'm going to try the AR upper. Mags don't look to be that big an issue.

Some people 'poo-poo'd' their cast receiver guns several years back, but then again some people will never hold a cast gun on par with a forged gun no matter what, even if they don't understand that 95% of all frames out there are in fact cast.

Their forged components are on par with all others simply because they are one of a handful of makers who are making the lowers, uppers and other components which are being used by other "big name" manufacturers in "their" rifles.

I have had an oly for a little over a year and love it. Mine is the normal 223 varmit with a 20" bullbarrel. It is amazingly accurate and I have never had a single issue with it. I would recoomend them.
