I have been toying with the idea of giving my m&p shield a good make over.  I would like to use cerakote because from what i hear it is better than duracoat. my first question is, is this true?  and my second is where around me does this?  I live in the Johnson city tn area.

Recommend doing it yourself. Its a fun experience, and does not require to much investment, <$100.

how does one go about doing it.  i honestly dont want to mess it up. this is a gun i am keeping so i want it to look good.

I'm in Kingsport and I have had both Coal Creek Armory and Predator Custom (both in Knoxville) do refinishes on guns for me. They both did fine work. Worth the drive considering it may take a month or so to get the gun back.

I also know that CCR refinishing is in Greeneville, and they do a few ceramic-based coatings, although I have never used them.

I have used Bulldog Coatings here in Knoxville. he does a great job and his prices are very fair. Usually a quick turn around and he also is a glock armorer and has training from several other manufacturers. If you want to look into him send me a PM and I will send you his contact info.
