Welcome!

Another vote for the M&P Shield. It's the one my daughter chose after quite a bit of shopping. She's tickled with it so far.

Welcome! Great to have you here. Idon't know if you have bought yet but I have found the sig 238 is a real gem for ladies if you don't mind going .380. My mom in her 60s and my wife live it. If you hold one is cry comfortable. Very light on recoil, and it disappears inside the waistband. My wife Carries the lc9 but it is a little bulky for the female dress style. . I am a Ruger and sig fan.

Welcome Jessirae,
My wife is about your size and she loves my Bersa Thunder 380 CC. Its easily concealable for thinner people, it's DA/SA & still provides some punch (380 is basically a 9mm short). It has been very, very reliable (she has shot around 400 rounds through it with only 3 stovepipes, everything else has went bang with several different brands of ammo)and very cost effective i picked this one up for $309 + tax & background. Bersa also gives you a lifetime warranty. The only con is its a little heavy compared to some of the other 380's on the market, its around 22oz fully loaded (8+1). If you can find one to try out I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm in Knoxville, or i'd let you try ours out. Welcome to the forum!

Hi Jessirae. Welcome to TGO and the South.  LIved not too far from Rochester for a while....pretty area, but not gun friendly enough for my liking.  I'm sure you'll like it here (forum ) as people are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable.
