Two new camps knives

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Its beena busy year here at Flatwoods forge, and these are some of the first blades cranked out this year. Both are made from 3/8th" thick 5160 leaf springs with oak handles. I still have finish work to do, including oiling the handles, cleanin up the flats and bevels and sharpening both to shav3 sharpness.

First is a Kukri for a customer here. Overall length is 16", 10.75" blade. Convex grind.

Second is a big camp knife based on the WSK tracker from the movie the hunted. 9.5" blade, 14.5" overall. 2.75" wide at the widest point. Let me know what you guys think

They both look awesome!  The second one reminds me of the marbles camp knife, only better and not orange.

Thanks man. They are definetly heavy blades, but both shoukd chop and cleave good enough toeave the hatchet at home.

Spots makes the Chuck Norris of Bowie knives. They pretty much are invincible.

Really digging those two, I'd just bet that they would take care of most any camp needs very well.

One of these days I have to pony up and have you build something small and handy for me. The more I see of your work, the more I get to thinking what I actually want/need in a blade.

Spots, those are fantastic. I love the "hunted" knife. I believe that hand made knives should always be usable, and yours always look tough as nails.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I try to build knives that are as tough as possible and have a spefic purpose. I love being able to drive one of my blades through a piece of seasoned locus or oak with a 6 lb sledge hammer and not hurt it.
