I recently got a Springfield Armory Champion Loaded 1911. Its the commander sized with a pretty nice trigger out of the box. Comes with night sites.

The only thing I didn't like about the gun was finding someone that had one. SA isn't turning out too many 1911s these days -- they are busy making plastic pistols!

I love my SA 1911. If you're around the Nashville area, maybe we could meet up sometime and I'll let you try mine out.

Actually Springfield does not "make" any pistols. The XD is made in Croatia and the 1911s are made in Brazil.

stainless steel is technically an alloy of steel cromium, nickel and a few other material depending on grade. Of corse steel is technically an alloy of iron and carbon but I wouldn't want a iron 1911. While we're being technical and all.

I don't know what price range your looking at.

STI guns makes a lot of commander size guns most with carbon steel frames.

Para-ordnance makes a single action and LDA.

STI's "budget" line guns use RIA frames and slides.

Not unless it's a "lightweight" model. I had a GI Champion and it was all steel.
