It is a 1856 Volcanic reproduced directly modeled from an original.

And before anyone says anything this was already in the machining phase well before sons of guns or pawn stars ever had these guns show up on there programs.

It is made to fire the rocket ball just like the original one did. We have not made any of those so we really don't know. I spent about 3-4 months reverse engineering the original to make all the prints that I have.

This is the other side.

Yes I reverse engineered, made prints, wrote the program and ran the machine with a few other guys to produce what you see here.

That one is number one of twenty five.

Unlike others on the net this is exactly like the original and the original parts could be interchanged into this hand gun.

The grips are made of rose wood.

It would be around a .40 caliber. We are looking into making a conversion kit and reload dies to make a baby .40 cal. That would load and shoot in the same gun.

The guy behind all of this has thought about making a version of a rocket ball using a primer or percussion cap with a gas check.

Very cool, the only "volcanic pistols" I have ever seen have either been in museums or video games (Red Dead Redemption, Call of Juarez) never seen a reproduction of one!

Can I has it? Purty preeze?

The price of these will probably run up there with a very top end 1911.

The Volcanic was the predecessor of the Henry and Winchester lever action rifles.

I believe Smith and Wesson had a hand in them as well.

Looks very nice. What a neat project. Thanks for sharing. Do you have access to shop drawings of the original rocket ball rounds?
