Sabot in a shotgun

On Friday I purchased a box of Remington sabot slugs for use in my benelli 12 gauge. After I got back home I realized that on the back it says in small print that it is designed for use in rifled barrels only.
My initial thought was that it is more of a disclaimer for Remington rather than an actual warning. However, I thought it prudent to ask for a second opinion. I only have 5 of them and I am not planning on buying more I just want reassurance that this will not damage my shotgun.

Thanks got the input.

They will not damage your shotgun but they will not be very useful at an extended distance.  They'll probably be about as effective as a musket.
