Probably a lot more fun when you convert it to an ump :-D

Ditto. +1

A lot mor fun... other than the goofy lookin 16" barrel.

Might even pay for the tax and go SBR if it bothers you. It bothers me...personal pref.

Pretty good thread on these here:

I could live with the 16" barrel, but stock mag capacity is a dang shame. Of course, it is .45, and 1 round of .45 is likely a show-stopper. Anyone know of a local gunsmith who can do the conversion?

They're not local, but if you want it done right send it to HDPS. They're the mecca of all things HK-conversion. I looked into making an UMP before and, IMO, they're the best kits and parts available. B)

Here is a sweet one on GB!

From what I understand 922r does not apply to registered SBRs, and I think the non-SBR USC conversions are build using US made compliance parts (i.e. for that grease gun mag version the stock, lower, and 3 mag parts are all US made). SBR route is not cheap!

I think the conversion puts you in 922r problems....

I think you may be right. Gotta love those BOHICA rules from the ATF.

If this is the case good luck finding the required parts count...

True, but he may not want to go the SBR route. SBR's never made a whole lot of sense to me... they're not really a "glamorous" NFA item and their a pain in the neck to sell if you ever get tired of it.

You could always just put a fake can over the 16" barrel to make it look Tacti-Cool!

Or just man up and slap one of these on it.

I was going to say I'll have a review in about a month, soon as I get back home to get it out of layaway, but JWP beat me to it . . . and thanks, JWP, I had planned on it before but now I'm dead-set on doing the full UMP conversion as soon as funds allow.

My little brother will hate you for making me spend his .22LR money.
