Ok so I am lookingt at putting a muzzle break on my T53, and i see this done quite often(and before anyone freaks out saying don ruin a war gun its a miss match gun thats just so happens to have a good still mirror finish bore).  So my question is, is it legal to alter it to put a MB on it.  I have read somewhere that you can not permanatley alter an imported firearm, unless it falls under a curio or relic section. does anyone else know anything on this.

As long as you are not converting it to a SBR or adding a silencer you are good to go.  Permanent alterations will negate its C&R status but I'm sure you're not interested in that anyway.  If you are considering the slip-on brakes which mount in place of a bayonet, save your money.  The only viable option is to have a brake pinned, soldered or welded on.  Be advised, most people who have tried this have been less than satisfied with the results.  If recoil reduction is your goal, the limbsaver type buttpads are a better and cheaper alternative.

I am not interested in the C&R value of this one now i do want a true m44 and 91/30 to keep original.  and i planned on threading the end of the barrel and putting a screw on muzzle break on it then going around the seem with a nice soder bead.  and its mainly for aesthetic purposes and nothing else. just like the boyds stock.
