August 2008 Middle TN meet and shoot -- Need someone to take the reins on this one.

I'm thinking very seriously that my wife and I will just sit out the month of August 2008 but if anyone else wants to organize a meet for middle TN in August, please feel free to do so. We're just losing a lot of ground on getting remodeling done around our house and need to re-focus on that for a while.

Owl Hollow continues to be a very good spot to meet and shoot but perhaps another venue would be a nice trade-up this time? Also we learned today that people don't prefer eating at fast food joints for these things. We were the only ones who showed up at Burger King. :)

I'd suggest moving back to a sit-down pizza place or something similar.

So, if someone wants to take the reins and organize a meet & shoot for August I will support you in any way that I can from here. :D

Maybe a move back to On-Target and lunch at Jason Deli before hand??

I don't mind where we go, though I would choose OHC if I had to pick. I do plan on being there this time.

Where is On Target? Is there a place in central Nashville or a bit north of town?

There is Gun City USA on Murf Rd just inside the 40/24 split southeast of downtown, but I haven't heard good things about it.

Guns & Leather is in Greenbrier, but would probably be a hardship on our Spring Hill, Smyrna, and Franklin area folks.

Pretty much your options in Middle TN are Owl Hollow, Gun City, G&L, On-Target, Stones River (sorry, Tungsten ... I heard your rant at the June shoot ), ASP (Joelton) ... if I'm leaving any out, somebody help me.

Once again, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to make it... if it's at On-Target though, the odds would be excellent, since a 45 minute drive is much more reasonable than spending more time driving round-trip than shooting, somewhere up past Nashville.

The only opposition I have to the indoor ranges is that it hard to visit. When we went to OnTarget last time we were having to yell and then even at that could not barely hear each other.

Not to mention, OT is not very rifle-friendly, IIRC. The plus to OT, though, is the wider selection of dining option.

However, as it seems to me the get-together is more about the shooting than eating, I'm propose we stay at OH, say lunch is on your own, and if anyone wants to do sort of a brown bag thing and bring lunch to eat on the grounds there, then do that. I imagine that will have to be OKed with OH, but it would alot like the barbeque back in June without the organization hassles.

I second OH. On Target only has so many lanes, and with all of us, plus any regular public that shows up, space will be limited.

And they give you crap about rifles.

Friend of mine said last time he went he could only use ammo that he bought from them.

Hopefully someone will bring a Kahr in .45, I'd like to shoot one.

I would like to attend but OH is a long trip for those that live N,W and E of Nashville. Has anyone used Stones River Range for a meet.

Is there enough interest for this to happen this month?

I have interest. Just tell me when and where. If I had a place, I'd put together something.

Sounds like you guys just ought to nail down a day and do it at Owl Hollow. It really is the best range for shooting and socializing. Make sure at least one or two members are going to be present so that you all can be someone's guest.

Most of my weekends in August are filling up but I am opposed to Stones River and I try to avoid On Target as much as I can. I would not be opposed to Owl Hollow again and I would not be opposed to making the drive to Guns and Leather. I would say that a Saturday afternoon at Guns and Leather might be hard to pull off with a group. They tend to stay pretty busy for good reasons.

I am a member and would love to be there. The only Saturday's this month I can do though are the 23rd and the 30th. So if either of those days work for everyone else that would be great.

I'm good with with any weekend. Owl Hollow sounds good. And bnagashima, You'll have to bring that VEPR out. I'm open the 16th and 30th.

We'll bring the usual assortment of evil stuff. Desert Eagle, AKs, UZI, ARs exc..

I'd be interested in meeting you guys and shooting for a while. Owl hollow is just right down the road from me as well. How much does it cost without a membership? Or can members bring an unlimited number of guests?

And Gun City only has like 8-10 lanes, which are 3 feet or less wide, so brass bounes right off the wall and i've caught more than a few hot cases in the face, so it's probably not optimal.

I'm a member and I'm planning on being there as well, although the 30th would be bad for me ... it's college football kickoff weekend! :D
