Maury County Goverment Gun Sales

I've been lurking for several months and haven't posted until now. Saw something this morning that sparked my curiosity.

 

Maury County has a huge list of guns, ammo, mags, uppers,and lowers for sale on the govdeals.com website. What's up with that. Did they bust an illegal gun dealer or something?

Looks like they have some pretty decent rifles! My guess would be a PD just cleaning up the gun closet and/or getting new stuff. Looks like it's all in good shape.

That only proves people have lost their minds. Everything that has a bid is more that retail. And then on top of that there is a 18% buyer premium.

There is not a single item in that list that is worth what they are getting bids on.

Not only this. But you have to pay the 7.5% auction premiumn sales tax TICS and transfer fee for your FFL.

Add it all up adds 25 to 30% to the price.

Also the FFL they are using seems to have an attitude from e-mails my future boss received back from him.

Those prices are crazy.  Definitely no deals to be had there.

I would be really careful. I looked at an ar-15 lower that has an m-16 hammer in it. Don't know what other parts may be in it, but good way to get in a jam.

I suppose you could just junk it or round off the back of it. Besides, doesn't it have to be a certain number of parts in order for that to matter?

It used to be any m-16 part constituted a machine gun, but I have read the ATF is relaxing that and allowing m-16 bolt carriers. I do not know if they have further relaxed their definition. I'm just saying be careful. Personally, I would change the whole firing group out.

As long as it does not fire FA then you are good regardless of the parts. But if the lower is drilled for the auto sear, which these aren't, then that is considered a MG.

The definition of machinegun also includes a combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.
