Recommended Posts

So long story short a friend of mine in Ca might have some extra ammo to sell/give me. Who ships ammo from a non FFL to another non FFL? I think I've had ups drop it from AIM before but can't remember if it wasn't fedex...

Any ideas guys?

UPS, declare it and pay the shipping and hazmat.

Might be good to get your buddy to get a gun shop to ship as they would

have the hazmat to ship.

Unless something has changed fairly recently,  no hazmat for completed small arms cartridges via Ground service, only for Air.

Has to have "ORM-D, cartridges, small arms" label on side of box,  which you can print by hand with Sharpie or whatever.

Correct, I shipped some last month, about $20 to ship 200 rounds of 9mm.

To simplify, no, I did not have to pay hazmat fees. Edited by Patton

Well, hazmat fee is like $20 bucks or more or varies by weight, dunno, so you definitely didn't have to pay it.

edit: here's Natchez' statement (who most of us can't buy from, sigh):

"Ammunition only requires hazardous shipping charges when shipped Air Service - there is no Hazardous Material Charge when shipping Ammunition Ground Service. If you choose to have an order for ammunition shipped by UPS Next Day Air , 2nd Day Air, or 3 Day Select, there will be a $37.50 Hazardous Materials Handling Fee.)

When shipping powder or primers on UPS Ground Service, a $27.50 UPS Hazardous Material Charge will be added to your order per 50lb box of hazardous material.

The Maximum single box weight for UPS Hazardous Shipping is 50 pounds.

You can ship up to 50lbs per box of powder and primers mixed together. If you order more than 50lbs of powders and primers mixed, a second $27.50 UPS hazard charge will incur for up to 50lbs in an additional box."
