What, you don't like erasing PM's to make room for more?

I hit the bottle I was aiming at on the third shot with the broomhandle, was shooting from about 15 or 20 yards I think

Please can we have the chat room back?

I kinda liked it too...it allowed real time communication which was often instrumental in getting the shoots co-ordinated....nowdays though, us E. Tn folks have each others numbers...LOL

I only have a few of the E. TN'ers phone numbers, but I'd really like to use the chat room, cause it makes it easier for me when I'm working on other puter stuff.

no to which question?

No, to the pm's using just as much bandwidth. PMs are no different than you posting/replying to a thread on here. Just another normal function of the forums. The chat is a live streaming, constantly updating, application... vs a page loading when you query it. Eats up a lot more bandwidth.

If any of that makes sense. It's late and tried to provide a halfway decent answer. lol

What type of chatroom was being used before?

You could always do a chatroom that TGO doesn't have to host. There exists some ungodly number of IRC servers in the world that any old person can access - and you can create any old chatroom you want on it - and people probably won't just pop in if they don't know whta it is. There are also some irc client applets that can be put into a page so that the less tech savvy can just click 'launch chat' and it will launch an IRC client applet that auto connects to the correct server and joins the correct chat room.

We've used the irc approach on here, as well as over on Tennesspeed, before... as well as the client applet. Can't really speak for the admin, or what exactly his feelings are on adding it back, but pretty sure it's far down on the list of things to do. Might return in some manner... might not.

Nothing is stopping someone from creating their own channel on an irc server, and making that a normal hangout for the members in the meantime.
