they are better made and worth at least $100 more on the average.  So 300-400 is not unreasonable for one.  Over 400 better be mint.

Its a single stack, and they qualify for C&R due to age but some other countries do not.  Super accurate.  All steel, very reliable, very durable.   Basically, the best model of a very well designed gun.   Those grips are correct for it.  As I recall you were frustrated before with the ammo situation, which is WORSE now.   I reload for mine but word is finding mak ammo is not easy right now.

good gun, but ammo is the bad thing now for maks.  i am happy i got some ammo for mine before things went south.  these guns will shoot the steel ammo all day long without any problems.  the prices are hard to say in today panic.  the maks (all brands/makes) of old times were anywhere from around $150.00 to $300.00.  use to get the p64 for around $150.00.  not now.  if the price is right and you can find some ammo i would jump on it.

Russian PM's and Chinese type 59's cost more and are harder to find than the EG's and Bulgarians but I don't rate them any higher in quality. The ammo is hard to find right now and expensive when found as others have said.

I hope to find a couple cases at the creek in three weeks but will probably have to pay around $300.00 ea. for them.

East German Makarov made from better steel than Russian one. It is designed to shoot steel cased corrosive ammo. As much as I remember, projected barrel life is 8000 rounds. If you use copper plated bullets and non corrosive primers, the barrel will last at least 16000 rounds.

Makarov does not have Tenifer finish, so it is recommended to keep it lubricated all the time

The sites are fixed on EG Makarov. Russian Makarov has adjustable sites. The magazines are interchangeable between Bulgarian, Russian and German.

Important thing for reloading is not to exceed the bullet's weight 100 grains. Also you can not load brass cases up to Russian spec. The case will be ruptured at the button. I used Hornady data and could reuse the brass 6 to 8 times
