I went to a Gander Mountain (in Jackson) for the first time ever yesterday and was impressed. Their selection of firearms blows away the Bass Pro here in Memphis, especially handguns.

Anyways I went straight to the ammo section and like most other places it was lacking. I did however find a large quantity of 7.62x54 which got me (as a new Mosin owner) fairly excited. They have 20 round boxes of 148 grain Wolf Non-Corrosive Polyformance for $10.99. Is this a good deal? I have three paychecks this month and would like to stock up on some ammo but am not familliar with this.

Thanks in advance for any info and help

Yeah, that's pretty darn high, unless you have hang-ups about shooting surplus (corrosive) ammo.

Wouldn't mind some of that so I could shoot my M44 indoors at Nashville Armory. Pretty sure my surplus stuff is steel core, or at least a bi-metal jacket that will attract a magnet.

Thanks for the replies. I have never used corrosive ammo before and have no problem with the idea. Most places I have found the surplus ammo seem kind of high but I really dont know what a normal price is. I did find one place that had 440 rounds for $100 a little while ago
