Anybody own a Nissan Frontier crew cab?

My step dad has a 2005. It's been a good truck overall. The transmission crapped out at 100k which is a little weak in my opinion. He caught it early so the dealership was able to fix it rather than replace it.

 

He has almost 120k on it now. The V6 has plenty of power to pull his 19 ft ski boat. Gas mileage is pretty weak for a mid size truck though at around 15mpg

I have a Pathfinder (V6, 4x4) which is very similar mechanically and otherwise.  It had around 15k on it when I purchased it, now has 71k.  The radio of all things broke which you just don't expect on any newer vehicle.  My wife likes the fact that we upgraded to a unit with a plug in for an I-Pod anyway.  Otherwise, it has been completely trouble free.

 

I prefer to pay cash for cars and keep them a while.  I am definitely happy enough with the Pathfinder that I plan on putting lots of miles on it.  With a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a hyperactive 70 lb dog, a more expensive vehicle would only make me more likely to get irritated with every small scratch etc...

I have a 2011 4x4 and really like it. I pull a 20 ft hay trailer around the farm with no problems. I've kept the maintenance up by changing the oil every 7000 miles using synthetic Mobil 1. It still runs like its new,. The only downside is the gas mileage. I'm getting around 19-20 with city and hwy split 10/90. The cabin is relatively quite for a truck but not silent. If it has a spray in bed liner they are nice with the rails that have the anchoring points. The 4x4 works nicely also when I'm navigating the woods picking up my wood in the wet times in spring. Also the narrowness makes it easier to maneavour in tight places such as the woods. I've been extremely satisfied with the Nissan products. The issues that the older models had was dealing with the internal transmission collet leaking inside the radiator. The 2010 ups have a new design that fixed the radiator problems and on the Nissan forum sights it seems to be a thing of the past. Hope this helps.

Got a 2000 crew cab with 200k miles on it and it still runs like a top. Before that I had a 91 crew cab hardbody with 385k miles on it and would probably still be driving it except some guy ran a red light and t-boned me.

 

Love the Nissan trucks, you can't hurt them IMO.

Good choice! I was thinking about my truck on the way home and how I don't look at new cars now.
