Personally I lock mine in the trunk,

Here is something I found which talks about how to carry it in your car and in hotel rooms..

First time I've seen this I wonder if they just posted it,

http://www.isp.state.il.us/docs/ptfire.pdf

Here is something I have now for when I travel.

http://www.center-of-mass.com/

I use the Medium size for my M&P 40 Compact.

The link pretty much spells it out. Thanks. It seems that I will be okay if I keep it in my carrying case, with a loaded magazine not in the gun but along side the gun, in the case.

Still not sure about the FOID card though? The way the law reads, it haprs on the fact that you need a FOID card regardless of how the gun is stored. Of course, it is early in the morning and I haven't quite finished my 1st can of AMP, so I am not awake yet.:D

Thanks again for all the help. :P

Well, the trip to St. Louis is over and was uneventful. I must say, St. Louis is very dirty. I did get to see the arch which was cool but was not impressed with the rest of the city. Thank goodness for G.P.S.'s because the highway system is very confusing.

My daughters cheerleading squad did not place in the Nationals competition but we still had fun.

When we went to the arch, I was suprised that they were doing checks of bags and people. I was armed and luckily, we didn't have time to go up in the arch, because I think I would've been asked to put my weapon in the car. I had forgot that this was considered a National park. My mistake.
