Best Small DA in 9MM or .40

Recommended Posts

OK, so I am looking at the Ruger LCP, and everyone takes their shot at me for wanting a .380. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO . . . feedback time again.

Suggest some small double actions in a larger caliber than a .380.

As always, thanks for your feedback. :koolaid:

well, the glock subcompacts (26,27 in 9mm and .40 respectively) the xd-9SC or XD-40SC are well liked

knowing you are a revolver guy, anything wrong with the .38spl+P in a j-frame?

Consider Kahr, of course.

PM9 and PM40 smaller and lighter than Glock, not much bigger than your LCP.

Pricey, nice pieces.

could you handle concealing a medium frame such as a 2.5-3" 686 or similar in .357 or .38?

i think glock, XD, S&W M&P, Kahr, maybe the larger keltecs are going to be good choices.

Also the .380 is better than a rock. I would not want to stand in front of one! I would like to have a pair of the LCP's one for her & one for me. There are plenty of times I would rather have it in my pocket.

The Kahr CW9 is what I have on my side every day.

True . . . the .380 is better than a rock . . .

Oddly enough, I have a friend who carries an old - and I mean OLD - JC Higgins .22 LR revolver.

That's better than a stick!

Seriously I'd check out the Kahr.

They are small & light, Though i've beed told the .40 is rather snappy.

Not that it matters if the time comes, but for practice?

Off the top of my head....

Top small(er) DA 9mm/40

-XD SubComp 9/40

-Glock 26/27

-Kahr CW9 (I STRONGLY do not recommend the CW40)

-Kahr PM9

-SigSauer P250

-Keltec PF9 / PF11

-Taurus Mill Pro PT111

-S&W M&P C 9&40

-Magnum Research Baby Eagle 9mm Poly

Edit: A little bigger, but I think the Steyr M9 & M40 fits in here nicely too.

In 380 / .32acp

-Ruger LCP

-Keltec p3at

-Keltec p32

-Taurus Mill Pro 380 (pt138 i think)

-SigSauer p232 (380)

Thanks a bunch, Brian

No problem...I carry a Sig P250 at the moment if your interested in that info. I still have my XD9SC as well... and for the record, I didn't have that list in any particular order. :koolaid:

While I think about it, I added a couple to the list there....

S&W M&P C 9/40

Mag Research Baby Eagle 9mm Poly Comp

Steyr M9 / M40

Also check out FNH FNP9 / FNP40

Edit: I can't believe I left out CZ. Definitely check out CZ Rami, 2075, P01 and CZ75

Lots of gang bangers Kill each other on the street with the 380!

Why is the 380 knocked around yet never goes away?

Because the 380 is a manageable and SHOOTABLE caliber.

You put some glaser safety slugs in it and now you have better than 9MM

JHP ballistics and downrange energy over 200 ftlbs from a 3 inch barrel!

Top this off, the glasers are frangible, won't go through walls and release pellets into the thoracic cavity in a devastating manner to almost guarantee a 2 shot kill!

Air Marshals even use em!

Air marshals carry automatic .357 SIG Sauer pistols with a 12-round cartridge. The bullets are hollow-point and expand on entering a body. "It's one of the most high-powered rounds you can put in a weapon

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-12-07-air-marshals_x.htm

And the carry frangible ammo too!

Else you'll punch a hole in the plane.
