Perfect gun collection

What would be your perfect gun collection and why?

I finally have my minimum collection:

semi auto .22 lr-hunting/plinking

bolt action 7mm mag.-hunting

12 ga. pump.-hunting/defense

ar15-defense/plinking

.40 cal.-pistol-defense/plinking

I can hunt any game and defend my family, home and self with this collection. And some of these can play a dual role.

Next I want to make my collection a little more diverse and task specific. Plus there are a couple of wants in there:

.357 and/or .44 revolver-badass

a dedicated HD shotgun-defense

a lever action-30-30-hunting

a lever action .22-huntin/plinking

a .22 pistol in the m&p platform-practice

AK47-defense/plinking/badass

Finally for prepping I will buy a second of the following:

.22 semiauto and lever action

.30-30

12 ga hunting configuration

AR15 or AK 47 (I would choose one for ammo storage purposes)

.40 cal pistol

revolver

Plus I would add a couple .22 revolvers.

For prepping I would add spare parts for all the guns listed in that category. But that's a different story.

As you can see it doesn't take much to make me happy.

Well that's my perfect collection. Let's hear yours.

The 'perfect' 'collection' would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars and would house one of a kind guns (famous due to owner, like ossama's AK or booth's derringer etc) and ultra rare / pristine examples of antiques.

My personal collection is mostly made of shootable guns and heading more and more away from dustcatchers every year.

The practical stuff is easy --- AR or AK or similar, pump or auto shotgun, big caliber rifle or 2 (bolt, lever, modern bmg, whatever), quality 22 rifle, quality 22 pistol, quality defense handguns  (9, 40, etc) (at least one tiny framed easy to conceal), quality major caliber handgun (44 mag, 10mm, etc).

The fun stuff is personal, for me that is mostly midgrade target handguns.  I would love to have a ton more money sunk into the fun stuff --- would love top end accuracy guns in both pistol and rifle platforms --- but I make do here with what I can afford without buying stuff that is beyond my skill level (Lets face it, I would love a $5k 1911 but you could hand me every gun at camp perry and I still would not earn a cent shooting any of them at any competition ever!).

Totally ripping off Katsumoto (Ken Watanabe) but......a man can spend his whole life collecting guns, looking for the perfect collection, and it would not be a wasted life.

In the end though, you will find........they are all perfect.

Mine won't be perfect until I get rid of my Jennings and Tec-38...

Need my address? :pleased:

My collection would start by getting back all of the guns I have traded or sold over the years. I miss them all.

Better...

One of each.  Two of many.  Three of some.

BEST!

You know Obama is going to ban the Jennings, right? I happen to have one I could let you have for $700. Just PM me if you're interested:)

That was a beautiful movie.  I still get teared up at the final charge.  The allegory of time-honored tradition instantly made obsolete...so painful.

Back on topic.  The saying is to beware the man who has only one gun, because he knows how to use it.  That being the case, there is nothing about me to fear =P

I buy what appeals to me that will get used.  I realize that I will never have every single gun that I want but I will try to have as many as I can.  Right now I'm into .22s, and I will begin shooting them again as soon as ammo is available.  I pretty much have all of the necessary bases covered so I try to get things that I just enjoy.  I really like the older .22s, the cheaper the better, kind of one man's trash is anothers treasure.  I would like to add a large caliber revolver and a AR15 to the arsenal but besides that I'm pretty content with what I have.

I think I'm happier aimlessly accumulating rather than trying to plan for any "collection".

I'm of a similar mindset. I'll take one or several of each caliber and the ammo to go with them.

I go through phases where different things strike my fancy. There are a few that have been with me for the long haul but in general my small collection is continuously ebbing and flowing.

My collection won't be complete until I have a 'Safari' caliber (.458 Lott, .416 Rigby, .375 H&H, .470NE etc...) double rifle.

Other than that, I'm happy accumulating lever guns, 'budget' classics, oddballs & my ever growing stable of muzzleloaders.
