So I know about the barrel stamps corresponding to months and years, BLACKPOWDERX being the months and second letter being the year. But my barrel is stamped RPQ. I can't seem to figure why there are three letters, and is the P or Q the year. The difference is 1968 vs 1978

So I called remington thinking I'd have to wait forever on hold, but after about 5 mins got an answer.

So the barrel stamp is 1967 and the reciever serial number is 1972. So I guess the barrel was either switched or they had a lot of barrels lying around for 5 years.

Either way It was quick and painless just to call

I have been trying for a while now to figure out when my Winchester Defender 1300 was made. I may give them a call to see if they're as quick as Remington.
