Harris bipod question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just picked up a Harris bipod (SBRM), and I'm curious what these holes are for. Is something missing? it looks like there should be something there to help highten the "jaws" when connecting the bipod to the flange. I'm still waiting the the Harris Rota-Pod to arrive, so I haven't had a chance to attach the bipod to anything.

I would have to look at mine to see if there are any holes. Mine doesn't have anything attached there.

Mine has the holes too

It's for a sling, if you only have 1 sling swivel, you attach it there.

There's a sling swivel on the bipod, but it looks like you can attach it there too.

Learn something new every day. I've never used a sling with it. Mine is the swivel type, and there's an attachment point on the swivel. I think the fixed ones don't have that point.

That must be the difference neither of mine are swivel models.

Hey congratulations on purchasing what is one of the best brands of bipod around.

Thanks. Mine is a swivel model, and does have another sling stud. I'm waiting on the Rota-Pod, because I like the idea of having the ability to move the rifle left and right while using the bipod.

Ya those are sweet. I have one model that is like about 8-15 inches and the legs spring out when you hit the button and has notches in the legs about every inch for catches. I also have the long 3 piece ones where I can shoot from the sitting position that you have to pull the legs out and push a button to retract them.

Edit* Models are HBLM and HB25 respectively. Edited by tennessee01tacoma

Harris Bipod 1A2-L 9-13 Inch, cost $70 shipped.

Frankly, except for a bigger knob to tighten onto sling swivel base which I admit is handier, I don't perceive any better construction or functionality than the $40 "Winchester" branded one that Wally used to sell, or the $44 Blackhawk one they sell now.

I have been tempted to try out the cheapies. I"ve heard mixed reviews on the Caldwells. I'll have to try out the WallyPods

The current Blackhawk one they are selling, unlike the previous "Winchester" one,  has horizontal leveling slider so you can make good bit of leveling adjustments on uneven surface without having to fool with the legs, works quite well.

It's swivel base attachment only, though, so if you want to go to a rail, will still need a swivel base to rail adapter. Another $10 eBay item, the cheapest I've ever  bought works fine. Have one that is quick detach, but couldn't find another QD again when I went back to pick up another one.

I ultimately decided on the Harris, because I just had to have the Rota-Pod, and I wasn't sure if it would work with any other bipod. Plus, I've heard lots of good things about their hassle-free lifetime warranty.

Yeah. Put it on the M1A. It will be like pouring ketchup on a Morton's steak :).
