A great time to reload

In last 2 days I've pumped out more than 2k rounds of 260 and 223. Last weekend it was 1k of 308.

It's funny, a few months ago I was looking at my components, thinking that I had way too much stuff, wondering why I had bought all this stuff. Now, no ammo anywhere, and no end in sight with all the crazy hoarding, and I have enough ammo to see me through Obama and Feinstein.

It sure is nice to have a Dillon 650 and lots of powder, bullets and primers. I got really lucky. It certainly wasn't foresight.

Don't sell yourself short.  I don't think luck had anything to do with it.   Being prepared always pays off.

My definition of luck " Being able to take advantage of a situation when it shows it self".

I think I heard Dale Earnhardt SR say it.

Roger that. I've learned a lesson.

I'll amen that!  I took stock today of my needs and don't needs, ammo wise.  I've got a nice Dillon SqD reloader but I only have 38spc 357 dieset.  I can use the 38, don't have a 357. I'll be collecting some 380, 45, and 9mm dies whenever I can find some.  Also, LOTS of reloading supplies.  I've got a lot of brass of all calibers. I'll get there.

You need to get yourself to a gun show and look up David. He'll have what you need.

Have the supplies today and be searching high and low for them tomorrow. I saw CCI primers the other day instock online. $60 per carton, limit 3 cartons. With shipping and hazmat, what is that, 6 or 7 times normal price?

Thanks Raoul.  I've been seeing his name come up anytime a gun show pops up....I'll do that.  I've been watching ebay for some dillon SD dies.

Odds are better than good that he'll have whatever you need. David's the man when it comes to reloading.
His handle is dlm37015

Me too. Is there a way for us to keep our fellow reloaders apprised of component availability? I scored 2k large rifle magnum primers yesterday at a fair (retail) price. Ballistic Supply. Now all gone.

And is there a trade forum dedicated to reloaders? I have several lifetimes of small rifle primers to trade for large rifle.

I really did get lucky.  I started reloading right before all this stuff broke, so there was nowhere near time to stock up, as I was still in the experimentation phase of different powders, bullets, etc.  Last week I had a lucky stroke.  I found 4 lbs of powder at Gander Mountain of all places for 79 bucks.  Then I was contacted by someone at our LGS who needed .22LR's bad enough to trade primers and about 1K 38/357 bullets for it, so double score.

I also got my first press in yesterday (Lee single stg) along with RCBS carbide 38/357 dies.  I am now just waiting on my shell holder, which should be here Wednesday.  Then there will be no more hammering round together with my Lee Loader.
