Does this make me a 1911 convert?

Make no mistake I am a Glock fan, I thoroughly love my Glock 21 and 20. I have owned tons of 1911's some that I put enough Wilson and Ed brown parts in that its just embarrassing.... I got one of the new colt rail guns didn't like it.... Got a Ruger sr1911, it was pretty but I have shot daisy and crosman guns more accurate... Shot my best friends Sig 1911 it shot great, the external extractor though....I feel about the same as the rail doesn't belong on a 1911.

Traded a 22-250 yesterday for a Springfield TRP... I literally shot $500 worth of ammo today given the current pricing due to political climate.... OMG. I am not the best pistol shot in the world, I literally tore a target up at 25 yards. I was nailing my 100 yard rifle target. It fed everything perfect, my only complaint is the front strap checkering is so sharp that my hot reloads almost brought blood... I may not keep this thing but man what a well put together 1911.

SIG makes a pretty darn good 1911.  They use an external extractor, sure, but it's basically the same one that is in the P-series guns that has been proven very reliable for decades now.  Some 1911's with external extractors have proven disasterous (early Kimbers for example), but the SIG 1911s are GTG.

Really like my Sigs, especially the 1911s. But the TRP is an awesome piece of work. If you have it now, and are even considering ever owning a 1911, keep what you got. I sold one because it was a far better gun than I deserved. I'm an average shooter, but these guns will make you better. Why did I sell? Not really sure. I remember dollar signs and a stack of bills in front of me.

But seriously, the TRP is a very, very good 1911. I doubt you will have any problem selling if you decide to do so.

And if you do part with it...I vote for Major Kong. He takes great care of his weapons, and appreciates a fine piece of craftsmanship.

The nice thing about quality pistols of this price point is that you can generally shoot them like they're borrowed and still get your dollars worth out of them later by trading instead of selling.

I really need to get into the 1911 game. The closest I have is a Star model b in 9mm. I like the ergonomics well enough, just need to find the right one at the right time. I hear so much good stuff about the Springfields and Sigs, maybe I'll start with one of those.

Ohhh I love shooting my friends sig 1911, it is rifle accurate. Just not used to seeing that extractor... I honestly only traded for the TRP because it had a Burris Fastfire on it that I took off and put on my Glock 20 and the trade was going in my favor. The performance was a true shock. I brought the targets home to measure groups on my old 22-250 and was showing my wife the TRP target vs my Glock 21, and the TRP literally had just ate the center out of all the targets. She looked at them and said what's the TRP worth... I told her and then she said what's the Glock worth... I told her. She said well unless its a really skinny bad guy you still would have got em....

It's fun to ignore the voice of reason sometimes lol...

Mr. Kong if I decide to sell I will yell since we are geographically close.
