CC into Erlanger (Chattanooga)...??

I'm a Georgia resident and am trying to learn TN laws and where my wife and I can carry. I read a post just a moment ago where a user on this board CC'd into Erlanger. Just wanted to make sure it was legal. Here in GA there is the whole public/privately owned stuff and not sure if the rules were similar in TN.

Also do no gun signs hold any weight? I was informed it depended on how the sign was presented and worded. A generic no gun sign wouldn't work.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hospitals are not off-limits by law in TN. Of course they can post like any other property.

Properly posted signs do carry the weight of law in TN. To be correct it must be worded "substantially similar" to 39-17-1359 and is supposed to be posted at every entrance used by the public.

Yep, what he said. A simple sign that has a picture of a gun with a slash through it doesn't count. You can still be asked to leave and charged with trespass if you don't, but simply carrying in a business that has an improper sign posted is not breaking the law.

I wonder about the University of Tenn Hospital. Technically it is a separate entity from the University so the university ban rules shouldn't apply. But then it is a "teaching" hospital.

You cannot carry in a resturaunt that serves alcohol for onsite consumption.

Well any places that instructs on any subject (martial arts, dancing, etc...) is a teaching place, but that doesn't necessarily make it a "school" under 39-17-1309

Wan't sure if you got an answer to this. It is, however, properly "posted" at the entrances of the UT Med Center in Knoxville.

One more point... there is a new College of Pharmacy and an older Graduate School of Medicine at the UT Med Center which I'm sure would fall under the "school rules."

Erlanger here in Noog is not posted.

There is two (if you will) sections to Erlanger. One is the actual hospital, and the other is doctor offices, and shops.Neither is posted, but I still wouldn't open carry!
