TN HCP in Arkansas

Recommended Posts

Will be driving to Arkansas in the near future. I understand Arkansas is reciprocal with the TN HCP. I've been reading up on Arkansas carry laws and from what I understand in effect, I have an Arkansas carry permit in my wallet. Is that how the reciprocity works? Is there anything else I should know?

The only differences I've found are:

MUST conceal

Must inform LEO's

Can't carry in a long list of places

Yes, there is a long list of places you cannot carry, most of it state government related places and situations.  You do have to conceal when carrying on a license.  You can carry a loaded long gun without any sort of license, such as in your car or truck.  Technically nothing illegal about walking down the street with a loaded long gun but you would get a lot of attention.

I would agree with your statement.

However I would be careful about saying this means you basically have an Arkansas permit.

Just that they will honor your Tn permit.  Could avoid a potential misunderstanding that way.
