Be sure to breakin you mold, I used a toster over, heat to 350 and let cool, then 400 to cool.

Do the 400 a few times and let cool to the touch, do not put any oils or Chems on the brass.

Use a candle to soot up the mold and pins, A brass mold need to run HOT to work well.

Get a brass wire brush, I use a bronze bore brush to clean any stuck lead on the brass.

It will last a long time when you treat it well.

Just like brake rotors, they come coated with oil so they won't rust. They need to be cleaned.

You put A VERY SMALL AMOUNT on a Q tip and rub the pins that go into the block, not the part that that makes the HP.

Also, lube the spure cutter plate as near the bolt as you can, if you get any lub into the cavitys it will need to be cleaned out,

I use gun scrubber.

Old school on this cleaning stuff. A little gas will clean a lot. Lot cheaper too. Soap your hands down before entering the house if Moms cooking.

Quick question for lubing mold hinges and pins.

Do you lube cold or wait until they get molding temp?

Both, before, during and after casting.

While you are casting you will find the cutter plate getting stiff, lube it,

saw Caster today, He uses 2 stroke oil.

$5 will score a quart of good quality two stroke oil. Now....how many times can I dip my Qtip in that quart before its gone? Yeah, it lasts for a long o'time.

Looks good, I do see a reject, just above center, looks like it did not fill out the bottom.

That is the best part of casting, you can make a good boolit and remelt the bad ones.
