I am looking to pick up a large Sebenza this week but I cannot decide between plain or cocobolo inlay. There is a $75 difference for the inlay.

Here you go. Truthfully the Startac Umnumzaan is by far my favorite. It gets lots of pocket time. I just got the Sebenza 25 yesterday. My initial impression is that it feels good in the hand and I like the finger grooves. The unique design large Sebenza 21 was a gift from my wife and will probably never be carried. The Small 21 is perfect sized and usually is what I carry when I wear khakis or other semi-dressy occasions. I really don't think you can make a bad choice with a Chris Reeve knife.

You two are about to cost me some money.

Don't mean to threadjack but since you two are at fault for me considering spending this much damn money on a knife I thought I'd get your opinions on this one. Tumbled with micarta inlay.

I've heard nothing but good things about the micarta inlay but haven't had the opportunity to handle it. That sure is a pretty knife though...

I love the looks of it. I'm having a hard time deciding on which size. I like the large but would probably carry/use the small more.

If I had a choice, I would go with the plain Sebenza.  The inlays on a Sebenza are just a little too nice for my taste for good hard working knife.  Another option to consider is doing what I did and get a Starbenza.  The Starbenza probably sees the most carry time out of all my knives.

I will be the nut I guess, but the inlay versions do not look good to me.  I would have such with no clip, and either a more normal wood handle (that is, one piece per side) or one of the metal handles w/o the inlay at all.  Inlay might be ok if its to show/collect and not use; I have lost interest in buying stuff that is not usable, though I once did and have boxes and boxes of knives to show for it.

Thanks Il Duce. If it's the one I'm thinking about it sold. I believe it was an Insingo. I'm going to keep checking for one on BF before I order a new one.

Monkey Edge is a solid company. I've been to their store in Arizona and talked with the owner Brady. He's a true knife guy and provides great customer service (at least in the several experiences I've had with him).

Look around on the bay and you can find a new 550 for only a few bucks more than a blem.That was going to be my next purchase but found a deal on a Delicia in ZPD 189 tonight
