Dillon Square Deal Question....

Recommended Posts

Posted

I've ordered a Dillon Square Deal and I'm thinking about adding some caliber conversion kits.  I'm getting the 38spc 357 and will be adding 45, 380, 9mm and maybe 44 mag (if I ever find the gun I want. :squint:)

My question is, how long does it take to change calibers after a person has done this a few times? I've read where a lot of people have 3 or 4 of these things set up because they hate to change calibers.....Is this because of being impatient and in a hurry?  Or is it that much of a pain in the arse?  I don't have room, nor money for one of each caliber.

Thanks for any opinions.

If you have a tool head for each caliber and they use the same primer ie SPP. change over is just a matter of the 4 screws and resetting the powder charge. If you don't have extra tool heads then you have to adjust each die like in any other press and this will take a little longer. With the 45 not sure what other calibers use LPP, you will also have to change out the primer side and powder bar I believe.

Best way is to have a tool head for each and keep them set, makes it a lot faster and easier. There is some youtube video that show how to change it over.
