What's the catch with 80% AR lowers? Seems too easy. Is the jig to hold it necessary? Seems like it would make it much easier to set up on the mill. Anyone out there done one?

No, the jig is not necessary.  It just makes it much easier to locate holes.  If you have a mill and know how to use it, you'll be fine.  I finished my 80% lower without a jig and I'm not a machinist.  It is a bit sloppier than a factory lower, but it works.

That said.  If I finish another one, I'll use a jig.

They're blocks of Al that are partly machined, with no numbers on them. Not an FFL item.

Didn't know anyone had them available again.

I've been looking around, I can't find them in stock ANYWHERE. Bummer.

I'd pay that for a couple. Thanks!

I'm thinking really cool paperweights. But if you don't mind the paperwork, and have the proper tools and know-how, you can make your own AR lower. Why? Why Not:)

??? There's no paper work involved to make your own firearm from scratch. Unless you want to manufacture them as a business.

I have done a few from tactical innovations.  Best 80 % recievers that I have used.  The jig helps alot....patience is the key to success though.
