I already have a G19 & G20, but have been looking for a decent deal on a G17 or G34. I could not find a G34 at any gun store in Chattanooga, nor were any new ones listed on Gunbroker or Buds. I happened to be in the neighborhood of Benton Shooters supply today and decided to swing in for a look. I first inquired about the G17, and the salesman told me they had them for $469.00 ($30.00 cheaper than Sportsmans Warehouse). I asked to see one, and was looking at it when a gentleman walked up to the counter, and asked about trading his G34 towards a G26.

I overheard the conversation between the fellow and the sales guy, and found out the G34 was just purchased last week at that store. The fellow just changed his mind, and wanted a sub compact 9mm. After the trade was made, I inquired about the price of the G34. I walked out with it for $485.00. It looks absolutely new, and has all paperwork & the original case.

The original owner had his gun smith install the no-dot Heinie #315 GRC Race Gun sights on it. I am really happy with my purchase, and cant wait to try it out. I will let you guys know how it performs.

With the Heine sights, THAT was a STEAL

It is looking more and more like I will have to get a G34 if I am ever going to make Master in IDPA.

The G34 was very nice as it came, but I could not resist the temptation to install a light weight steel Lightning Strike striker, LWD 3.5 lb. connector, Wolff reduced power striker spring, and a Wolff reduced power safety plunger spring. I also polished the safety plunger & trigger bar, and then adjusted the trigger spring leg on the bar for less initial take up. I made sure to monitor the trigger spring bar adjustment so as to keep the striker safety fully functional.

My G34 now has a 2 1/2 lb. trigger much less initial little take up, and during dry fire practice, it is surprisingly easy to keep on target. I intend for this G34 to be a range & game gun, not a PD weapon - I have the stock G19 for that. I am anxious to give it a spin at the range this afternoon.

You'll like those aftermarket parts. :)

Honestly, i think they should be on the Glock from the factory.

I had one or a couple weeks and never got used to to the stiff recoil and I shoot 44 mags out of a 3" 629 all day. A couple of buddies who have Glock Forties wanted to

try it out. None of them cared for the recoil and the stuck with what they had.

I know some who love it.

I had Glock 33-My mistake

Will,

You must be talking about one of the Glock pistols chambered in .357 Sig. The G34 is a long slide "tactical" 9mm. Its recoil is quite soft, and certainly less than my compact G19, full size G20 10mm, or any pistol chambered for .44 mag.

I went to the range today, and shot 50 rounds of Blazer Brass 115 gr. FMJ through it. The increased sight radius certainly makes it easier to hit with, and it obviously recovers more quickly from recoil than the G19. I did find out that I need a taller front sight, because it was hitting about 2.5" - 3" above the point of aim at 25 yards. Its current Heinie front sight is .215" tall, so I ordered a replacement front that is .250". Hopefully, that will take care of the POI vs. the POA.

The new polish job, springs, and striker insured that the trigger pull was delightfully light, and with relatively little take up, if I did my part, the shots hit where I wanted them.

This G34 was no different than my other Glock pistols in the malfunction department - there were none.
