Great HDTV find

If you're in the market for a new flatscreen I can't recommend the Panasonic VT50 enough. I was lucky enough to find a 55'' on amazon at a discount now that the 2013 models have been announced. These TV's grabbed almost every award of the year last year and are capable of reference picture quality. Black levels are so good it seems like a black hole appears in the middle of the picture and the styling of this thing is sweet! When these were introduced last year they went for $2300 or more and I snagged this one on President's day for $1757. But I think it's back up to $1999. Yes, LED's are brighter but sacrifice color accuracy and light bleed in the process and yes, OLED's are coming around the bend, but those won't be affordable for a while so If you're looking for a high end, reference quailty TV, this is the one to get. This was me after turning it on...

I wouldn't take an oil well in Texas for my 42 in Panasonic plasma. Have had it for several years and never a problem. I have an LCD in the dining room no comparison. Congrats on a sweet deal Edited by glock55

I'm a samsung LED guy myself. Used to deal with Plasma's back in the day and no matter how far they've come... i couldn't bring myself to buy one. I've seen tons of them burn out the backlight, lose their brightness or bruise from tilting.

Got a "free" samsung 50" plasma with a furniture purchase about two years ago that I have been happy with so far. Probably gonna try an LED OLED when the price is right. I imagine the LED's will drop once the OLED takes off.

IMHO Panasonic makes the best tv's in the bidness.

I second this comment.   I bought a Philips HD last year, top of their line, 1080p, bells and whistles and whatnots.

Wife got a Panasonic this year and it has a way nicer pic.

hell, OLED will be cheap before too long. Pretty sure the "new hotness" coming up is AMOLED, but right now it's mostly in phones. the Samsung Galaxy SIII users Super AMOLED.  There's even HD Super AMOLED....
