Laser Grips: Good or Bad?

Recommended Posts

Damn . . . I have a real problem here . . .

Found my old laser pointer . . . got some Super Glue Gel . . .

Glued my laser pointer to my J frame . . .

And glued my J frame to my hand . . .

At least I am ready for anything!

*am having trouble holding a fork, though*

When SHTF and the BG is not standing still like the paper target at the range, point shooting is likely to miss unless you practice a lot at the range using this method like the trick shooters I have seen on TV.

I am not saying that point instinct shooting is worthless. I am saying that to develop the point instinct shooting skill takes a lot of time and skill to perform accurately and consistently.

Thus, you should be using your sights, even if it just the front sight of the handgun.

I offer the advice on point instinct shooting because I owe my life to it. The mechanics of my shooting did not even enter my mind. If I had tried to use sights I am sure I would be dead.

The issue I have with your post is the statement:

Again, too variables regarding the self-defense situation to know when you have to shoot to protect or forcibly persuade the BG to stop their attack.

I’m not sure what your issue is with my statement, but my point is that I am not a Police Officer anymore. I do not have the responsibilities or duties that a Police officer has. If the perp is far enough away that I need to use sights to hit him he is probably not an immediate threat and the risk to bystanders is probably too high.

But everyone has to do what they are ready to take responsibility for and every situation is different.

I meant to write "too many variables". I understand your point, I guess what is missing the distances are you using for point shooting vs sight shooting.

Thanks:)

At the ranges where a laser is of the most use, a person with sufficient practice can accurately point-shoot.

I've personally found that lasers hurt my accuracy more than help (distraction), and they detract from instinctive pointing of the weapon.

I do think that they are great dry-firing tools though... since they will show you where your muzzle goes when you pull the trigger.
